As with all rain-forests, there are a couple of things to keep in mind before heading in under the canopies. Pack list
- Rain-gear
- SunscreenÂ
- Hiking boots or shoes with good traction
- Water (about 3 liters for an ascent, per person)
- Food (calorie- and sugar-heavy would be a good idea)
- Binoculars (can also be hired from the Uganda Wildlife Authorities' office)
- Camera! And a waterproof bag for it.
Behaviour in the forest
- Leave no trace behind. Pick up all your rubbish and bring it with you out of the forest.
- Try to keep your voice down or remain quiet. You will see and hear more if you do.
- When encountering an animal, do not point or wave your arms - this could be seen as a threat. Follow your guide's instructions.
- Try to keep some distance from all animals, backing away slowly if they approach.
- Do not use a flash for your photos. This could scare or act threating for the animals.
- Do not eat when there are animals about.
- No one with communicable diseases like flue and diarrhea is allowed in the park to avoid animals adopting the diseases.
- Avoid spitting in the park. Human germs can easily spread to many animals; notably primates.
- Feel free to ask your ranger guide if you are unsure of anything.
